The Mystery of Peter Answers

It’s probably not a good idea for me to even ask this question, considering that I have started The Mystery of Peter Answers only a few months ago that focuses on the online fortune teller Peter Answers, but I have been wondering lately, “Is Peter Answers Still Popular?”

What makes me ask this? Well, I have a couple of observations.

First, I have noticed that I am still getting good traffic to this website, but not as many people are leaving comments. I used to get a lot more people leaving me questions for Peter, such as “Peter, please answer who is sitting next to me?” I just don’t get as many people doing that lately.

Second, even though my website has only been around for a few months, I am now #4 on Google for searching for Peter Answers. It seems to me as though that would not happen if this free online fortune teller game was still popular. I should be more like 30th yet here I am on the first page! Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining, but to me that says it is declining in popularity.

So, if Peter Answers is really not a popular interactive tarot anymore, why is that?

Well, of course I do not know for sure but I have two guesses.

First, is the popularity of Ask Jud, the Peter Answers clone. This game surely is taking a lot of traffic from Peter Answers because it is presented in a very fancy “Web 2.0″ style with Ajax and a nice clean interface. Once a person looking to have their fortune told checks out Jud Answers, why would they go to Peter Answers? I don’t think they would.

Second, there are only so many people in the world. Once someone searches for peteranswers and finds what they are looking for, will they search for it again? Probably not. So maybe there are no more new people to expose to the game? Is that possible? I am not a math person but I think it is.

So my conclusion is that Peter Answers is not as popular as it used to be, but that is OK to me because the game is still fun and people still enjoy it. As long as some people are interested in the mystery, I will be writing about it.
